A downtown Boston financial district building, located at the intersection of Milk and Batterymarch St, set a blaze around 2:03 PM on Wednesday May 28th, and was quickly evacuated. A firefighter working detail was said to have spotted the fire at the six story building and quickly called for action. He’s become a local hero and has been getting his well deserved recognition from the news. Crowds of people gathered on the streets and watched as firefighters drowned the fire and water rained from the rooftops.
As of right now there is no evidence that anyone was hurt, firefighters, police and medics were on the scene immediately and “the process was one of the smoothest I’ve ever seen” said an employee of Lily’s Bar Pizza Patio.
An onlooker mentioned “one firefighter said it’s all carpets up there on the top floor” maybe this is a sign that some of our older Boston buildings could use a remodel for the sake of safety? This fire alone was said to cause over $100,000 in damages, the fact there was a firefighter nearby saved it from spreading to other buildings which would have caused even more damage.
You could vividly see the smoke coming from the rooftop fire as the streets closed up, drones and helicopters flew above and firefighters climbed up to the top with a ladder.
